Message from Rev. Father Fernando Heria, Rector at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Charity
Hispanic Heritage Month and Festival Mariano Hispano 2019
“Am I not here that I am your mother?”
Dear Brothers and Siters,
As part of Shrine’s tradition, in October we will be celebrating the Hispanic Heritage Month, a special time to show our rich common heritage of language, culture and faith at the feet of the Most Holy Virgin, Our Lady of Charity. Every day during this month, brothers and sisters from different countries of Latin America and the Caribbean will be pilgriming to the shrine to celebrate the Holy Eucharist and share their culture and traditions.
As closure of the Hispanic Heritage Month, we’ll held the “Festival Mariano Hispano” on Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th, the greatest catholic Hispanic celebration ever had in the Archdiocese of Miami, open to the entire community of faithful. Events born from the evangelizing mission of Marian shrines, will take place at La Ermita during this Festival Mariano Hispano.
Within the scheduled activities, there will be a series of conferences, workshops, testimonials, concerts, extended hours for confessions, eucharistic celebrations, artistic presentations and other events, on topics illuminated from the different Marian-inspired spiritualities that we have in our countries, especially those arisen from the great and extended devotion existing towards Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Empress of America.
I am very pleased to invite the entire community of South Florida to join the different celebrations taking place during these two days of Festival Mariano Hispano. It is a free admission event with a lot of fun for kids and young people. Doors open from 7 AM to 9 PM. I’m also beg you to help us promoting this important event in your home, parish, and school and/or work place.
The festival is coordinated and sponsored by María Vision (Jesus Christ Network), a Catholic television channel that since its foundation has perceived in Mary the perfect model of Evangelization, and wishing to imitate it, has followed the guidelines set by the Church responding to the goals of the New Evangelization.
We wait you all to celebrate together our common heritage at the feet of Our Lady of Charity, because charity unites us as one family in Christ.
I bless you in Jesus and Mary,
Rev. Father Fernando Heria
